Our client, a prestigious law firm, has an immediate need for an experienced Patent Agent – Electrical Engineering, to join their winning team in Boston.
Our candidate of choice will bring expertise in electrical engineering. This role involves drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Draft new patent applications by combining legal processes with a strong electrical engineering background.
- Prosecute patent applications involving new discoveries in electrical engineering.
- Communicate regularly with internal and client personnel, including Executives, Patent Agents, Intellectual Property Attorneys, Staff Scientists, and Engineers.
- Locate, review, and analyze relevant literature, scholarly articles, publications, and other patents.
- Contribute to drafting knowledge-sharing materials, including written reports, analytical summaries, scientific-opinion documents, and patentability profiles.
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
- Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Registration as a Patent Agent with the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO).
- At least one year of relevant experience as detailed above.
- Minimum of one year of experience in:
- Working as an in-house staff engineering resource, providing written electrical engineering content for legal professionals to use in drafting patent applications.
- Supporting the patent prosecution process with feedback regarding electrical engineering.
- Conducting technical research in electrical engineering.
- Analyzing complex issues, conclusions, research methods, data, and calculations relevant to electrical engineering.
