Our client, a global leader in aerospace engineering and manufacturing, has an immediate need for qualified Mechanical Engineer Purchaser, to join our growing team in Cincinnati.
Our candidate of choice will be responsible for the vendor sourcing, qualifications, competitiveness and term negotiations, prices and schedules delivery using knowledge of budget and schedule requirements. Must have strong mechanical-technical negotiation skills.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop competitiveness to drive cost reduction initiatives with the global supply base, while meeting capacity and quality requirements.
- Manage supplier contracts and long-term agreement with preferred suppliers to ensure that market trends, supplier performance and future business needs align.
- Collaborate with supporting resources (engineering, quality, global supply chains, logistics and regional teams) to achieve plans, ensure adequate cycle time to procure materials and escalate critical materials from supplier based to meet customer demands.
- Leads teams in identification of opportunities to meet objectives for supplier cost reduction, creation of value, supply chain improvement and customer satisfaction.
- This position will execute events across multiple categories and is a key position in delivering cost-saving targets.
- Will need to network across our company and build strong relationships with stakeholders and develop negotiation strategies which help support their business.
- Identify opportunities for competitive bidding.
- Development of existing purchasing network.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering.
- Minimum of 2-4 years of Purchasing related experience or demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the above-mentioned tasks.
- Bilingual (English-French or English-Spanish)
- Experience in Machine shop environment.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes in a machine shop environment.
- Knowledge of Metal-mechanic manufacturing processes.
- Technical drawing reading skills.
- Technical capacity and the ability to provide technical guidance.
- Knowledge in planning, programming, budgeting and executing of purchasing and supply chain schedule.
