Our client, a prestigious, nationwide, law firm dedicated to providing legal services to financial institutions, has an immediate need for an experienced Bankruptcy Litigation Attorney – Associate, to join their winning team in Miami.
Our candidate of choice will be responsible for providing excellent representation for our clients in bankruptcy matters. This is a remote role but in-person attendance at courts throughout the state is required. We have a strong preference for candidates with Bankruptcy Litigation experience handling Adversary Complaints, Appeals, Chapter 11 work.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Interact with and aid clients and staff in a professional and diligent manner.
- Prepare various Motions, Objections, Claims and Orders associated with representation of clients in Bankruptcy matters.
- Defend litigated and contested matters in Bankruptcy Cases, including Adversary Complaints and Appeals.
- Attend various court hearings associated with representation of clients in bankruptcy matters.
- Representation of clients in various mortgage mediation matters associated with bankruptcy cases.
- Manage assigned case load in manner that meets goals and client expectations.
- Handle escalated and time sensitive matters as needed.
- Maintain a close and positive relationship with the other attorneys and staff for our firm to ensure that the workflow is smooth and productive. Serves as a quality control for the team members.
- Maintain a positive and professional relationship with clients to ensure that their needs are being met.
- Assist with other duties and special projects as needed.
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
- Juris Doctor of Law
- Must be admitted to the Florida Bar and must be in good standing.
- Should be admitted to practice in the Federal District Courts in Florida.
- Must physically reside in Florida, preferably in Orlando, Jacksonville, or Tampa areas. While this position is fully remote, candidate will be expected to regularly appear in Federal Bankruptcy Court in the Middle District of Florida.
- Requires One to Ten years of Bankruptcy experience in Chapter 7 and 13 cases preferably representing lenders and creditors, including attendance at court hearings. Preference for experience with litigation, Chapter 11, and adversary cases. Multiple jurisdiction admission a plus.
- Must possess a good understanding of Chapter 7 and 13 Bankruptcy procedures and laws.
- Litigation experience, preferably handling Adversary Complaints and Appeals in Bankruptcy Court.
- Must be familiar with court procedures and practice.
- Must be proficient with numbers and basic accounting.
- Must be knowledgeable of bankruptcy law proceedings.
