Our client, a leader in automotive parts manufacturing, is seeking an experienced Industrial Engineer – Continuous Improvement to join our growing team.

Our candidate of choice will lead Continuous Improvement efforts focused on Manufacturing processes, Material flow, Labor utilization, Production efficiency and help in achieving the Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost objectives of the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct Continuous improvement workshops to educate all associates on the fundamentals of Lean manufacturing, improve productivity and promote Lean culture throughout the organization.
  • Perform Industrial engineering analysis of new and established processes and recommend improvements.
  • Advise the Operations department on issues related to production efficiency.
  • Coordinate and manage cost saving projects.
  • Improve the Safety and Ergonomic standards of processes and work areas.
  • Increase equipment availability by implementing Total Productive Maintenance program.
  • Optimize the cell layout, line balancing and process flow to improve production efficiency.
  • Implement a 5S and Visual management program to streamline the operations.
  • Champion Kanban based Pull systems for material flow within the factory as well as to the customer.
  • Analyze and improve the flow, routing, packaging, storage and handling of material in and out of processes.
  • Perform Value stream mapping of processes to identify and eliminate non-value add activities.
  • Promote one-piece continuous flow and Standardized work throughout the organization.
  • Establish process flows, cell layout, manpower planning, material flow and best practices for new and existing processes.
  • Any other duties or assignments deemed necessary.

EXPERIENCE:

  • BS: Electrical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or other technical discipline plus 3 years’ experience in a highly automated, high volume automotive manufacturing environment;
  • -or- AS: Electronics Technology plus 5 years robotic/press experience in a highly automated, high volume automotive manufacturing;
  • -or- 7+ years’ experience and training in a similar role and environment.
  • Experience in automotive assembly and injection mold processes is preferred.
  • Experience in planning and coordinating new program launch activities
  • Experience in creating process flows, Work standards and inventory management systems.
  • Experience in performing manufacturing cost calculations and managing cost reduction projects.
  • Able to create layout planning and design using AutoCAD.
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency in MS Office.
  • Knowledge of industrial engineering principles, including, but not limited to Time & Motion studies, Line balancing, Capacity planning, & Labor utilization.
