Our client, a nationwide supplier of health and beauty products, has an immediate need for an experienced Quality Engineer to join their growing team in Coolidge.

Our candidate of choice will be responsible for maintaining and improving our Quality system by supporting the management of nonconforming materials, corrective actions, Quality policies and procedures, waste elimination, mathematical analysis and capability support for statistical process and quality control, document control approvals.  You may be involved in Product Development, Stage-Gate Qualification Process, Supplier Quality Assurance, the initiation, and control of changes to Customer Process Controls and support internal and external customer quality audits.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitator of Problem-Solving Teams for both Voice of the Customer (VOC) and internal issues
  • Responsible for the NCMR Process, managing non-conformances/suspected non-conformances, to include quarantine of materials to prevent escapes
  • Actively works with internal and external stakeholders to resolve and close NCMRs and/or update standards as appropriate
  • Guides/supports the Quality Review Board (QRB), which body determines the disposition of materials suspected of non-conformance to requirements in accordance with the Quality System. Responsible to regularly report to management QRB actions as well as summary of causes of non-conforming materials
  • Guides/directs/determines root cause and associated corrective/preventive actions for continuous improvement.  The Quality Engineer typically deals directly with product and business systems related issues. Included in this activity is the regular reporting of defect analysis and proposed solutions for preventative action.
  • Leads the development of product Key Characteristics and Key Process Parameters identification (KPI’s) and supports the implementation of Statistical Process Control in the production environment
  • Additional assignments may include support of Concurrent Product Development teams, product testing support for the Quality Control department, failure analysis support, maintenance of Customer Process Control Documents and raw materials specifications
  • Position may require activities resulting in direct communications with Customers in resolution of issues, problems, specifications along with support of External/Customer audits
  • Provides technical and quality assurance related support as assigned for plant activities, field sales and/or customers
  • Operation and maintenance of the assigned technical and quality databases, to maintain inspection and other standards accurate with contractual or customer standards
  • Provides technical support to the supplier management program to successfully resolve supplier related issues/non-conformances in the achievement of contractual/program deliveries, goals, and objectives
  • Must be able to lead/influence others.  May delegate and monitor activities to ensure accurate completion of tasks
  • Utilizes statistical methods to monitor quality/process parameters

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality Assurance, Chemistry, Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred.  May substitute work experience in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Quality Assurance systems or a related field, or ASQ CQE certification.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt preferred
  • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  This position also requires a background or demonstrated ability in the interpretation and understanding of governmental law in the specific areas of regulatory compliance. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customer, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to effectively present information to senior management
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of geometry/trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
  • Solid computer skills to manipulate and graph data and report experimental work. Knowledge of SAP preferred
  • Strong ability to work in a team environment, support multiple projects.
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills.
  • ASQ CQA Certification a plus
