A leading supplier of building supplies is seeking an experienced Logistics Supervisor to join their team in Yonkers, New York! Your responsibilities will include overseeing smooth operation and performance throughout the second shift. You will work as a cohesive unit with management throughout the company and be able to perform all duties of the warehouse staff if/when needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise a group of drivers to achieve a safe, timely, and accurate delivery to customer sites and pick-ups from vendor’s sites.
- Responsible for the accuracy and timely entry of the daily master tracking log of all drivers, deliveries, RMA’s, RTV’s, Will Calls and paperwork from the field to the Finance department.
- Communicate & coordinate activities with the Sales, Warehouse & Purchasing Managers to troubleshoot any problems on loads such as incorrect pickups, addresses, phone numbers, and product quantities.
- Identify priorities, utilize available resources effectively to meet anticipate change and/or problems and reallocate resources when necessary. Schedule loads while utilizing and maximizing available driver hours and loaded miles.
- Demonstrates approach-ability and ability to collaborate with others.
- Must be a self-starter, with the ability to work well as part of a team and independently.
- Must exercise initiative, judgement, discretion, and good decision-making
- Review drivers’ logs, hours of service, and DOT requirements to ensure compliance with all state, local, and federal regulations.
- Ability to train, motivate, and manage a team of Drivers.
- Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- Basic knowledge of building materials & five boroughs. CDL a plus.
- Knowledge of routing MS Office products and routing software beneficial but not required.
- 3-5 years’ experience as a Logistics or Dispatch Supervisor
- Ability to use time productively, efficiently, and meet challenging work goals
