Our client, a nationwide sheet metal manufacturer and distributor, has an immediate need for an experienced Maintenance Manager – Coil Processing, to join our winning team in Closter.

Our candidate of choice will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the coil processing operations within a manufacturing facility. This role involves ensuring efficient and safe processing of metal coils through various stages, from receiving raw materials to delivering finished products. The Coil Processing Manager plays a crucial role in optimizing production processes, maintaining quality standards, and managing a team of operators to achieve organizational goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement efficient coil processing strategies to meet production goals and deadlines.
  • Monitor and optimize the coil processing line, ensuring maximum throughput while maintaining quality standards.
  • Collaborate with production planning and scheduling teams to ensure timely processing of materials.
  • Implement and enforce quality control measures to guarantee the production of high-quality finished products.
  • Work closely with the quality assurance team to identify and address any issues related to coil processing that may affect product quality.
  • Oversee maintenance activities for coil processing equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams to schedule preventive maintenance and troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Enforce and promote a culture of safety within the coil processing department.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and implement measures to reduce accidents and injuries.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise a team of coil processing operators.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to enhance team performance.
  • Foster a positive work environment that encourages collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement efficiency-enhancing measures.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to implement new technologies or upgrades to enhance coil processing capabilities.
  • Monitor production costs and implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality.
  • Optimize resource utilization to achieve production targets within budget constraints.
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, including procurement, engineering, and logistics, to ensure seamless operations.
  • Report regularly to senior management on key performance indicators, challenges, and proposed solutions.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5-10 years of proven experience in a coil processing position with industry leading company
  • 2-3 years leading a small coil processing team preferred
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Business Administrations, Manufacturing Management, or a related field
  • In-depth knowledge and experience working with coil processing and slitting machines
  • Strong operational expertise of coil processing setup and operation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and assess coil processing equipment
  • The ability to provide leadership with effective communication skills.
  • Familiarity with relevant steel industry regulations and compliance standards.
  • Strong time management, team building, and systems sustainment skills
