Our client, a nationwide leader in manufactured corrugated products, has an immediate need for an experienced Corrugated Packaging Manufacturing Supervisor, to join their winning team in Middletown.

Our candidate of choice will oversee and manage crews within the converting department to ensure safety procedures and policies are followed, achieve production goals efficiently, maintain high quality standards, and to perform daily functions as directed by the production manager.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure that all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping is practiced at all times.
  • Manage all areas of responsibility within the converting department. Work with converting crews to constantly work on ways to become more efficient.
  • Must show the ability to conduct structured meetings with crews to discuss safety, production, quality, and housekeeping concerns.
  • Must be able to display a professional attitude at all times.
  • Must have the ability to interact with all other departments on the shift. i.e.; corrugator and shipping.
  • Constantly promote the company’s expectations in regards to safety, quality, production, waste, and housekeeping, at all times.
  • Establish high morale throughout the converting department by displaying fairness, consistency, and an interest in employee needs to perform their functions.
  • Must display good troubleshooting skills in regards to production quality issues.
  • Must show a good working knowledge of all of the machinery within the converting department. This would include an understanding of various converting machinery, Robotic loadformer apparatus, automated strapping equipment, as well as the automated conveyor systems within the facility.
  • Ensure that all manning and production needs are met as directed by planning for your shift.
  • Communicate and manage company policy and procedures to ensure continuous operation between shifts.
  • When unusual events take place such as major quality issues, safety or incident matters, major mechanical breakdowns, conflicting or unclear production needs, ensure that the proper individuals are contacted immediately such as ownership, VP of Operations, production manager, scheduler, or the safety manager, to discuss direction that may be needed.
  • Responsible for the inspection of the daily and weekly clean ups as they occur.
  • Must be thorough and accurate with all information that is to be passed onto the following shift.
  • Ensure that all maintenance matters in regards to machine operational issues are properly entered as work orders, to ensure necessary repairs can be scheduled.
  • Ensure that all required production documentation is completed accurately at the end of each shift prior to leaving.
  • Be involved with the evaluation and the qualification processes for the employees in various positions, within your area of responsibility,
  • Maintain, monitor, and be supportive of all CI team functions, as they pertain to the 5S program.
  • Constantly be updated and aware of all important matters that take place during your shift.
  • Hold crews accountable for their responsibilities within the converting department.
  • Provide accurate and thorough communication at the end of each shift on the “Shift Summary”.
  • Be able to read and understand all of the instructions on a factory ticket.
  • Ensure that the converting crews monitor box quality, including, but not limited to, loose liner, warp, correct size, print clarity and registration, slot and score placement, during the production run as required to comply with our quality process and procedures.
  • Additional duties maybe assigned by management.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Must have a minimum of 3-5 years supervisor experience within the corrugated industry.
  • 3 to 5 years working knowledge on flexo’s and / or die cutters
  • Specialty folder gluers, laminators and other specialized equipment a plus
  • Have solid and clear understand of safety policies, and regulations, including but not limited to LOTO
  • Have an understanding of high quality standards including Ink management, caliper checking and other standard industry quality procedures surrounding the converting process.
  • Must have a working knowledge of all the machine centers within the area of responsibility.
  • A working knowledge of the ACS “Stars” location and inventory system is a PLUS!
  • Strong computer skills required due to equipment automation, process controls and internal operating systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills as it relates to training, quality and safety.
  • Must possess a strong safety and operations background.
  • Possess strong communications skills (written and verbal).
  • Must have a previous background within the corrugated industry.
  • Experience with corrugator operations, A PLUS.
