Our client, a nationwide leader in fine foods, has an immediate need for experienced Director of Warehouse Operations, to join our winning team in Brewster.

Our candidate of choice will provide customers with quality and service to surpass their expectations by directing the activities associated with night warehouse operations. Responsibilities include but are not limited to, directing activities related to order selection, order loading, product receiving (after hours) and product replenishment. You will be responsible for the safe, accurate and timely selection and loading of all outbound product, and for ensuring the Company’s night warehouse operations comply with government regulations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct the daily work and safety of Inbound and Outbound Warehouse managers, supervisors, selectors, loaders, clerks and other night associates.
  • Develop Night Warehouse Managers and Supervisors through training on policy and procedures, education by assisting in problem resolution, and leading by example.
  • Preserve staff relations through regular pre-shift meetings. Maintain lines of communication with staff by answering questions and explaining policies and procedures. Monitor staff morale.
  • Develop truck load plans, communicate plans with managers, supervisors and lead personnel to ensure trucks are loaded within timelines. Confirm weight and cube restrictions are satisfied and special customer requests are accommodated.
  • Evaluate operational data, including inventory losses, selector production goals and safety reports. Identify problems, determine root cause(s) and recommend changes to the Vice President of Operations to produce zero-error benchmark on selector accuracy.
  • Execute management functions of staff selection (interviewing and hiring), development, discipline, performance reviews and/or terminations. Makes recommendations for disciplinary action and/or behavior modification where required.
  • Train staff by consistently enforcing Company policies and procedures including, but not limited to, those related to safety and food safety to facilitate compliance with local, state and federal regulatory bodies. Timely address and correct managers and staff who are non-compliant.
  • Coordinate efforts with the Compliance and Safety department to aid in training, conduct associate observations, update preferred work methods, investigate incidents/accidents to determine root causes.
  • Oversee the maintenance of powered industrial equipment in compliance with OSHA requirements.
  • Use the ERP and voice selection systems and generate reports from both systems.
  • Operate an electric pallet jack, or other powered industrial equipment, to transport products and observe the same operation by staff.
  • Suggest efficiency ideas, cost reduction measures and assist with the implementation of changes within inbound and outbound warehouse operations.
  • Coordinate with other departments as necessary to ensure repairs and upgrades are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Perform the duties of managers and associates, and other related duties as needed.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
  • 5 plus years of experience managing a warehouse order selection team.
  • Experience operating electric pallet jack or forklift preferred.
  • Must be able to work the assigned schedule. This position requires working 6:00 pm until end-of-shift with all products accurately selected and loaded, 10+ hour shifts, overtime, Sundays and holidays.
  • Ability to interpret financial and operational data.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Familiarity with inventory control, OSHA, HAACP and other regulatory requirements. Strong leadership, communication and people development skills.
  • Broad knowledge of warehouse operations, methods and procedures
  • Ability to use, or learn to use, all equipment and tools used to perform the job.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must successfully pass a controlled substance screening test.
  • Must adhere to all safety practices and company policies.
  • Meet or exceed established goals.
  • Ability to work rapidly at a constant pace for the entire shift, in a fast-paced environment.
