Our client, a nationwide precision tool & die manufacturer, has an immediate need for an experienced EDM Operator, to join their winning team in Apollo.
Our candidate of choice will responsible for the set up and operation of conventional and/or wire EDM machines in a manner consistent with commonly accepted tool and die practices and perform specified preventive maintenance on company equipment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Machine materials to design specifications in the most efficient and safe manner possible.
- Program machine instructions to facilitate the most efficient manufacturing process.
- Utilize appropriate quality assurance practices and metrology equipment to ensure that all product conforms to applicable design specifications.
- Perform preventive maintenance and calibration in accordance with company and manufacturer’s instructions to ensure the quality capability of the equipment.
- Complete all required documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
- Utilize good housekeeping practices to maintain a clean & safe work area to minimize the risk of personal injury, equipment damage, or the manufacture of non-conforming product.
- Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as plane & solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to perform basic math functions, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals, including translation to and from metric measurements.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine correspondence and reports.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Must have completed a Vocational-Technical EDM or Tool & Die Makers Apprenticeship or have the equivalent EDM experience, which included manufacturing details, punches and die sections.
- Must have the ability to successfully complete all training requirements as listed on the training matrix for this position.
- Must be available for scheduled work: normal work day of 10 hours, more or less hours as necessary, night shift and weekend work are possible.
- Must be able to read and understand blueprints and the use of quality control and related metrology tools and equipment.
