Our client, a nationwide manufacturer of commercial machinery, has an immediate need for an experienced Machinist Team Lead, to join our winning team in Pembroke.

 

Our candidate of choice will oversee the machinist team responsible for producing precision components and parts according to engineering specifications. You will ensure the efficient operation of machining equipment, adherence to quality standards, and on-time delivery of machined products.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and supervise the machinist team, providing guidance, training, support and direction.  Includes participating in new hire interviews, approving timecards, performance reviews & employee resolutions.
  • Review engineering drawings and specifications to plan machining processes and select appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams to ensure machining processes align with project requirements and quality standards.
  • Manage and participate in the machining operations, including CNC programming, setup, and operation of machining equipment.
  • Conduct quality inspections to ensure machined parts meet precise tolerances and quality requirements.
  • Optimize machining workflow and processes for efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and waste reduction.
  • Collaborates with Production, Manufacturing Managers as well as other departments to prioritize work orders and meet project deadlines.
  • Maintain equipment, oversee tooling inventory, and ensure a safe working environment for the machinist team.
  • Determines and requisitions raw materials & tools based on engineering drawings and job requirements.

 

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical or vocational training in machining.
  • Extensive experience in machining, including CNC machining and programming. (minimum 5 years)
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with previous experience managing a team of machinists. (minimum 2 years)
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of machining techniques, cutting tools, and machining equipment operation.
  • Familiarity with CNC programming languages (e.g., G-code).
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills.
