Our client, a nationwide manufacturer of precision metal parts, is seeking an experienced Quality Technician, to join our growing team based in Ogdensburg.

 

Our candidate of choice will be responsible for performing quality control testing processes in the quality lab; assuring accurate, timely results are obtained and communicated.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Proficient in performing all raw material, in-process and finished product quality control tests according to standard procedures, aiding other Quality Technicians as required to assure timely completion of and response to quality checks.
  • Maintain lab process control and capability data/charts, assuring they are up-to-date and respond to them according to approved procedures.
  • Determines assignable causes of out-of-control situations on all lab equipment and process standards. Implements corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Assures all lab written and computer records are maintained accurately, neatly and are up-to-date.
  • Follows the quality lab preventative maintenance and instrument/equipment calibration programs.
  • Helps to improve lab practices on a continuing basis including, but not limited to, lab procedures (e.g. retain storage) and schedules.
  • Approves product lots for shipment, assuring only “in spec” lots are approved, unless otherwise directed by the Quality Manager.
  • Helps develop and implement effective safety and housekeeping practices, and assures they are followed according to department and company requirements.
  • Interfaces with customers to process customer complaints and developing/implementing preventative actions.
  • Performs quality audits as assigned by the Quality Manager.

 

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma/ 2 or 4 year technical college degree preferred, but will consider work experience and education as qualifications for this job, as determined by the Quality Manager.
  • Experience in laboratory testing highly desirable.
  • Working knowledge of the basic algebra and chemistry
  • Basic Statistics and SPC knowledge required
  • Mechanical aptitude desired
  • Team facilitation and leadership skills highly desirable
  • Basic computer skills, including Lotus 123, DOS and Windows, are required.
  • Very good communication and inter-personal skills are required
  • Able to work flexible work schedule, including weekends, overtime and call-in, as required, to fulfill job responsibilities.
