Our client, a nationwide manufacturer of pet foods and goods, has an immediate need for an experienced Safety Coordinator, to join their winning team in Monmouth.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide safety leadership.
- Management and execution of safety activities for the plant location.
- Enforce OSHA standards as well as MWP safety policies and plant safety walk-throughs.
- Perform job site analyses to identify potential employee exposures to injuries and illnesses and support safe work practices/procedures.
- Conduct daily site safety inspections/audits, document findings, and implement corrective actions.
- Leads and/or assists accident investigations, near-misses, and property damage incidents to identify root cause(s) and develop effective corrective actions.
- Help manage daily activities regarding injury management and worker’s compensation issues.
- Conduct safety training: Fork-Lift safety, Lock Out/Tag Out, PPE, Confined Space, etc.
- Enforce site-specific safety programs.
- Conduct facility/site inspections and complete associated reports.
- Pre-task planning for high-risk work tasks.
- Work closely with MWP Management. Be able to engage and advise the locations leadership relative to the MWP safety program.
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
- High School or equivalent.
- Prior work experience in an occupational health & safety focused role.
- Manufacturing experience is not mandatory but is a plus.
- Strong oral, written, interpersonal and presentation skills and ability to positively influence safe behavior.
- Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to pay close attention to details.
- Be on site while operations are ongoing. Weekend work will be required at times.
- Occasional travel to other locations may be required.
- Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision and as a team member.
- Ability to manage personnel with strong leadership abilities and motivate and coach personnel to accomplish company-wide goals.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
- First Aid, CPR, OSHA 10/30, or additional Board or Certified Safety Professional certifications is a plus.
